your interest in this possibility.
Conference Activities:
The event will be built to suit those who are able to attend.
The original proposal envisioned three kinds of activity:
1) Section workshops for authors to present and receive
feedback on drafts of chapters.
2) A series of plenary, keynote addresses
3) Workshops/Roundtables to discuss overarching themes,
methodological issues, comparisons between historical
sections, challenges of interdisciplinary collaboration,
possible conclusions.
Food and Meals:
The NEH doesn’t allow its funds to be spent on meals, drinks, or receptions, but I am still working to find alternative support for conviviality. I’m always open to suggestions.
Tentatively, we'll cater in lunch and go out for dinner.
Entertainment and Tourism:
Sioux Falls is on the far eastern side of South Dakota, about 375 miles away from Mount Rushmore. (Think of the movie Fargo, not Deadwood or Dances with Wolves).
The metro population is about 250,000, so there are restaurants or bars for a variety of tastes and diets.
